The Accompanist, directed by Frederick Keeve, is a feature film that tells a modern, gay love story for our generation. A passionate, sensuous, and mysterious tale set in the world of classical ballet which takes place in the heart of Los Angeles. The film explores love, sexuality, identity, family bonds, and the power of music and dance, with a dash of magical realism. Brandon Wykowski (Ricky Palomino) is a troubled ballet star who is seeking a comeback after injury. He finds his salvation in an accompanist, Jason Holden, (Frederick Keeve) who plays piano at a local ballet studio. Brandon’s off-again, on-again boyfriend, Adam (Aaron Cavette), is also a dancer at the studio, and is jealous of the developing relationship between the dancer and accompanist. As the love triangle plays out between the trio, the lines between eroticism and violence become blurred. Weaving its way through the story, is a metaphysical element which symbolises the healing power of music, incorporating classical compositions from Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky. This gay love story hopes to shed new light on a community that has been largely underrepresented in film. It combines the beauty of classical music and the seduction of dance.
